Rita El Khoury / Android Authority
TL; DR
- For some Chrome for Android users, an option will appear to show your bookmarks bar.
- The option is only available on widescreen devices, such as tablets.
For the most part, the Chrome browser experience is fairly similar between desktop and mobile. However, there are a few key differences, such as full extension support on the desktop. In a move that will bring the two even closer together, a feature previously only available for desktop mode is now starting to appear on the mobile version.

Creating bookmarks is useful if you want to remember a website or visit it regularly. With a single click you will be taken to your favorite pages. Ultimately, it is a tool that can save you time and effort. In the desktop version of Chrome, you can choose to show your bookmarks bar so you can quickly access your bookmarks. However, this option is not available in the Android version of the browser. Or at least that wasn’t the case before.
A new setting has quietly appeared for some Chrome for Android users. As you can see in the screenshot above, that setting is a toggle that allows you to display your bookmarks bar, just like on the desktop. Also similar to the desktop version, the bookmarks bar appears just below the omnibox.
Previously, you had to tap the three vertical dots and go to Bookmarks to access the bookmarked pages. This makes accessing your bookmarks a lot faster. While this is great news for those who use bookmarks often, there is one notable caveat. Unfortunately, this option appears to only be available for Chrome for Android users on widescreen devices, such as tablets.
