At the NCAA West First Round, he tanned the 200m in 19.85 seconds (+1.1 m/s), a time that now leads the NCAA rankings for the season. His performance is also in second place in the program history of USC Trojans and places him next to Coleman on Seventh on the NCAA all-time list.

After the race, the USC Track & Field X account marked the moment with a playful post in which it was read, “Garrett Kaalund is that guy.” Interestingly, Kaalund had already plagued in March that something special came in his 200 meters, and he certainly delivered. On March 29, Garrett Kaalund sent a clear message to the track and field world with a blazing 20.05 (+1.4) version during the Battle on the Bayou, held in LSU’s Bernie Moore Stadium in Baton Rouge.
Earlier the same month he had already suggested what came with a solid 20.54 at the NCAA Division I championships. So, when the commentator made up the race of Friday with, “Now, very fast, Middle Lane 6, Garrett Kaalund of USC, Personal Best of 20.05 comes with Jones, Jayden Jones with Justin Johnson, Kashie Crockett, Kashie Crockett from TCU, all of this here is about Garrett Kaal,” Fans knew they were about to see something special. And Kaalund did not disappoint.
The 21-year-old stormed over the finish line with an impressive lead, leaving second place the ‘Montray Callis in his wake. It was a statement racing -dominance from start to finish. But what makes Kaalund even more exciting is that his sparkle is not limited to only 200m. He turns heads over several events and proves that he is not only fast – he is a force.
The track and field athlete with golden feet
Garrett Kaalund not only has a Breakout season – he has rewritten the script. It is therefore no surprise that NCAA’s Stan Becton called him one of his top 25 stars on his way to the conference championships. “Kaalund can do it all,” Stan said, “The number 2 200 and 400 meters and the no. 4 100 meters – all while a leg on the nr. 2 × 100 meters of relay is performed.”
And Kaalund has a backup of every word with pure performance backups. At the legendary USC-Ucla Dual Meet, Kaalund dropped a stunning 44.73 in the 400m-Slechts The second 400m race of his collegial career. In April, Kaalund played a key role in the Cushing Stadium of Texas A&M in the 44 Farms team in the Cushing Stadium in the holding of USC’s 4x100m -relay on top of the NCAA Leaderboard, so that the team helped a sizzling 38.41. And for a good measure, he tore the job with a 9.93 (+2.4) supported by the wind in the 100m during the same meeting.
