China Smash: Day 3 Action – Printing Higher Seeds Ahead

Zhou Qihao and Yukiya Uda had victories in higher seeds, but most of the China action of the day 3 preferred the higher seeds in Beijing. The top two seeds in action each won 3-1 today, with Lin Shidong Topping Shunsuke Togami and Hugo Calderano that defeated Simon Gauzy. Zhou Qihao had a 3-0 victory on Anders Lind, with a few tight 11-9 victories to start on the right track. So far, Xiang Peng has won both games 3-0, and because two of the higher seeds in his part of the draw are already out, he will have a decided ranking advantage over the flavien cotton of France in the next round.

Triels Moregard dropped the first game before he roared back for a 3-1 win over Omar Assar. Moregard will be confronted with Yukiya Uda who upset Lin Yun-Ju 3-2. Kristian Karlsson defeated Yuan Licen 3-0 to continue to Lin Shidong. Shidong defeated Shunsuke Togame 3-1. More action from men in this round is planned for Wednesday.

Singles for ladies on day 3 was largely a series of victories of the higher placed player. One of the two exceptions for the day was Wang Xiaotong who defeated Hana Goda van Egypt – a loss for a higher -ranked player, but a victory by a strong Chinese player who quickly rose the ranking. Xiaotong will be confronted opposite Sun Yingsha in the round of 16. Wang Yidi will be confronted opposite Honoka Hashimoto,-Elke Houtkap Dominant 3-0 victories today. Chen Xingtong defeated Xiaona Shan from German and she continues to face Li Yu-Jhun. Yu-Jhun is the other exception, the Taipei player region Bernadette Szocs 3-0. Chen Yi needed all five games to go past Qian Tianyi. And Zhu Yuling registered her second 3-0 win in a row when switching off Bruna Takahashi. Just like the men, the second half of this round is planned for Wednesday.

One early round Doublesnote-China’s Wang Yidi collaborated with Lily Zhang in the US and the couple won their opening round 3-0 about Andrea Dragoman and Charlotte Lutz (from Romania and France). The American/China team continues with the Chinese couple Qian Tianyi and Chen Xingtong.
