Chibnall singing during season finale

Jordan Chibnall set a record day at Carrick Park on Sunday afternoon. For the first time in her racing career, she rode four winners, breaking a track record and two old records.

One of her winners came aboard three-year-old Miki Sing ($1.55 favourite), who claimed the day’s feature race, the Ladbrokes Tasmanian Country Championship (2150m)

Victorian trainer Mitchell Frost sent Always B’s son Miki to Tasmania to prepare for two starts, winning both races.

From the second row, Chibnall took Miki Sing away from the cones to establish himself in midfield, before working his way forward to find the lead at the 1300m mark. From there they were able to take the race as they saw fit, storming away from their rivals over the final 350 meters to gain a 10.8 meter lead in 2:00.7 seconds.

“When he found the front, he dropped the bit, and I had to get him traveling again, and once he got back on the bit, I never thought he would be beaten,” Chibnall said.

In the Westwood quarry piles (2150m), Chibnall rode the Conor Crook-trained Magnetic Terror ($7.50) to a track record victory, recording the mile speed of his 20m handicap in 1:59.4s.

Started safely, the castrated son of Terror to love managed one-out and two-back before racing to the lead in the 1000 meters.

“I saw Toddy (Rattray, Star Major driver) starting to make his move, and I always wanted to stay in front of him after stepping so well. So once I found the top, I just wanted to keep him happy.

“It was good to see him do that as we have had some problems with his feet,” said Chibnall, who said the pacer will play several of the upcoming Cups in January and February.

Chibnall and Crook won the first race together with Ozzie Pearl ($1.45 favourite), who won the opening race for the two-year-old girls after a successful protest, in a mile pace of 2:00.6 seconds, just breaking Horace Speculo’s old record of 2:00.7 seconds.

While Ozzie Corka ($1.30 favourite) ended Chibnall’s quartet of wins when he broke the three-year-old record at 1670m with a time of 1:57.7s.
