Chevrolet sells you a new 632 large block, but they are not exactly cheap – Jalopnik

For most drivers the idea is to have to replace a motor, the stuff of nightmares. Expensive nightmares. But for a certain brand Gearhead, getting a new powerful V8 would be a dream come true for their ride. Especially if it was the biggest, worst crate motor Chevrolet ever offered.

Thanks to the Bowtie brand, these adjectives come, which also offers the specifications for its new ZZ632 V8 to support them. To begin with, the 632 is the movement of the mill in cubic centimeters and translates into metric terms in 10.4 liters. It also contains functions such as high-flow spread port cylinder heads and a fully forged roller assembly with a hydraulic camshaft, plus it is a highly written V8 with a red line of 7,000 rpm. As a result, you can enjoy an incredible 1,004 hp and 876 pound-foot torque if you push the thirst of the engine with 93 octane gas.

Remember that there is also a large large price tag with great power. The ZZ632-KRAT motor, available from GM Performance Parts, sells for nearly $ 49,000 with a crank-trigger inflammatory system, plug rinsing, water pump, balancer and distinctive orange valve covers. No Chevy fan? Don’t worry dodge and Ford also offer 1,000 hp crate engines.

The Dodge Bestiary has a number of fairly interesting creatures, from super bees to Vipers to even Hellefants-De Last is the name of a powerful 6.2-liter V8-Krat motor. A deviation from the ZZ632, it takes a different route to the delivery of 1,025 hp and 945 pound-foot torque on E85 fuel. The lifting gets his growls by adding a 3.0-liter IHI-Supercharger to the motorcycle. And yes, it is a real Hemi engine, complete with hemisherian combustion heads.

From a Real-World point of view, the Hellefant C170 at the top of the food chain was also used in the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170. This Turnkey Dragster was able to reach 60 in an EV-like 1.66 seconds and an NHRA-certified quarter miles of 8.91 seconds. Dodge will now sell you that engine for just under $ 28,000.

Even better – and unlike the Copo Camaro sold by Chevy with the ZZ632 V8 only for racing – the SRT Demon 170 is somehow legal. So that the sprint time of 0-TOT-60 counts as the fastest ever set by a production car.

The powerful Megazilla 2.0 V8 of the Blue Oval is our last member of the 1,000 hp club. Admittedly, we do not yet know what the deal is with the full specifications of this engine, but Ford’s claim about “More than 1,000” horses is good enough for us. The expected price of around $ 33,000 is also pretty good news, at least compared to the ZZ632 of the Chevy.

If you are curious, the first Megazilla-Krat engine was a natural sucked 7.3-liter V8, an evolution of the Godzilla engine found in Ford’s HD trucks. Now Megazilla 1.0 was not slow, because it could make a good 612 hp. However, the 2.0 version follows the same strategy for forced induction as the Hellefant C170 to make its four digits of PKs.

A disadvantage of the supercharged Megazilla 2.0 is that Ford now only uses it for competition. But we will see what enthusiasts do if it is for sale later this year. Who knows, maybe the Ford gives the possibility to restart his own factory-built dragster: the Ford Mustang Super Cobra Jet, last seen as a record setting EV prototype in 2024.
