The Omoda C5, also known as the Omoda 5, Chery C5 and Chery O5 depending on the markets it enters, has been updated to its second facelift guise, as showcased at the recently held Chery International User Summit 2025. In Malaysia, the Omoda 5 received a facelift to the Chery O5 in September.
Chery Corporate Malaysia has revealed paultan.org that the second facelift for the crossover model will come to Malaysia next year, although the exact timeline for its arrival is yet to be determined.
This is because the Omoda C5 as shown in China will only be produced in left-hand drive form for now, and a more definitive timeline for Malaysia will be known once the model is available as a right-hand drive product, according to Chery Corporate Malaysia.
However, available details on the updated model remain thin Auto indicates that the second facelift for the O5 will use the SHS-H powertrain configuration already available in markets such as Spain. This consists of a 1.5 liter petrol engine combined with an electric motor that runs on a 1.83 kWh battery, resulting in a power of 223 hp.
The 2025 Chery O5 brought significant updates over the Omoda 5 it succeeded in the Malaysian market, as the facelifted model came with a different transmission; the 2025 model replaced its predecessor’s CVT with a six-speed wet dual-clutch transmission, which continues to send drive to the front wheels.
Also changed for the 2025 model is the rear suspension layout, which is now a multi-link configuration compared to the torsion beam setup of the Omoda 5. The powerplant for the Chery O5 remains the same type, being a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine.
As for the standard equipment of the Chery O5, the crossover gets automatic LED headlights, front and rear LED fog lights, keyless entry with remote engine start, an acoustic glass windshield and side windows, automatic wipers and a hands-free power tailgate.
Inside, there’s dual-zone climate control with rear vents, a sunroof, six-way power-adjustable driver and four-way passenger seats with ventilation, leatherette upholstery, refrigerated storage compartment in the front armrest, 64-colour ambient lighting and two-tone vanity mirror lighting.
Features in the 2025 Chery O5 include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Qi wireless charger, a Sony sound system with eight speakers and a 360-degree camera system with transparency function.
For safety kit, there are six airbags, stability control and a full range of driver assistance systems such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, lane centering assist, blind spot monitoring, speed limit assist, front departure warning and high beam assist.
