The same goes for written content, I think. But there is one thing that sometimes irritates me a bit, and that is when a discussion arises about who is the most important player for a club.
Speaking on talkSPORT’s Inside Chelsea show, former Chelsea player Jason Cundy said he believes Moises Caicedo is more important than Cole Palmer.
“He is the most important player for Chelsea. Yes, Cole Palmer… there is no doubt he is the most creative attacking player. He is the difference maker, but Moises Caicedo is the heartbeat of that football club at the moment.”
And in the article where I saw this quote, they said Cundy was wrong and that Cole Palmer was actually more important.
The correct answer here is that they are both as important as each other. We need them both fully fit and in shape. Why should there be a debate about who is more important? Why can’t we just say that they are BOTH important?
For starters, they are completely different players and play in completely different positions. Caicedo offers the defensive stability and high pressing threat, Palmer offers the creativity and goal threat. These two qualities are equally important to this team.
Don’t get me wrong, I completely understand what Cundy is saying here about Caicedo. Without him in the team we will never look this good. But it’s basically the same for Palmer, just in a different way.
Debates are certainly good, and I understand why we have them. We have had similar ones on our Pod many times. It’s all part of it for sure.
But as the players themselves say, they are both ‘The Goat’!
