Chelsea to sign Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes?

There have been media reports claiming that Rennes star Jermey Jacquet will join Chelsea for a fee of £43.3 million this January transfer window.

CHELSEA have been linked with many players in recent weeks and some big names have been mentioned, but it appears Jacquet is the club’s top transfer target and the board have been working hard to secure a deal.

It is claimed that the player has asked to join Chelsea, the club has agreed a deal for the defender and it was only a matter of time before an announcement was made by the club’s hierarchy.

However, in recent weeks the potential move has stalled as Chelsea seemingly do not want to meet the asking price set by the French club, but that does not appear to be the end of the story.

In a fresh twist, The team have reported that Chelsea could indeed return with a bid this month, and that Rennes could ultimately accept a bid if someone arrives worth €50m or more, which equates to £43.3m

And asked about Jacquet’s situation, Rennes boss Beye recently told reporters that he wants the young man to stay: “The power I have is to talk to him and tell him what I think of him at Stade Rennais, what I think of his development,” he continued.

‘I know where he wants to go in his career. I think today I am doing my part, that we as a staff are all doing our part to help him progress, to the point where he is now the target of his best clubs.

‘In five months he will achieve even more, and so… [if he stays] it could be beneficial for everyone, for the club, for Jeremy and for the club that might come looking for him.”

The boy is talented, he has a big future, he is playing well, all these things could go wrong with a move to Chelsea because he might not get the playing time he needs to develop.

We may not be sure why this step occurs CHELSEA they just don’t want their rivals to sign the player, but ultimately he doesn’t need to move and this could come too soon for the boy.
