The Black Chamber of Commerce of Charlotte-Mecklenburg wants to invest $ 3.7 million in incubating and scaling up its black companies.
Charlotte, North Carolina is one of the most important cities in the country when it comes to black companies and a new attempt by Cauthy Dawkins and other members of the Black Chamber of Charlotte-Mecklenburg commerce has been set to create a hub specially designed for those companies.

The Innovation Center, as the building is now known, will contain an Agri-Tech program for farmers, events rooms for business meetings, co-working spaces for startups, entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations; As well as a store and a distribution center for small companies.
To find out how the space could best be used, Dawkins visited other cities with similar hubs, cities such as Atlanta, Washington DC and nearby Durham, North Carolina, and with which he got away from those tours that eventually came a first-of-it-Mind Hub for black companies and professionals in Charlotte.
“While things are being removed in the community, such as federal financing and subsidies, we want to be a safe space,” Dawkins told the Observer. “I wanted to create a safe space for business owners and professionals to be raised.”
The Chamber has spent around $ 30,000 to acquire the building and is launching a fundraising campaign of $ 3.7 million to attract financing for the necessary renovations to accommodate the vision of the room for space.
According to two of the advisers of the Kamenhia Gabriel and Jeremy Johnson, space has been needed in the city and the Charlotte Metro area for some time.
“We just want to take more locals here to expand their experience and help them find out what they want to do,” Gabriel told the Observer.
“It is absolutely necessary and I can see that it is a great tool and support system for those who want to thrive in business,” Johnson added.
