The Six-Ports USB-C charging station of Plugable does excellent work to balance its 100W to charge all your technology without steering electricity to fully charged devices. However, you must ensure that your power brick is in snuff to fully use the PS-6cc, because wall loader is not included.
- Intelligent charging allocates power to the devices that should charge the most
- Compact and lightweight
- All charging ports offer electricity output
- Must deliver your own wall charger
- Station should not stop charging devices that have been switched on
Relocation of the line along the line
The newest USB-C hub from Plugable distinguishes itself from the crowd with its intelligent charging. The station has a guide with “priority drawers”, which essentially determines when the device is charged. After the device has been charged with the highest priority, it goes to the next device, and so on.
This works much better than a standard station that splits the load right away, because the PS-6cc will concentrate on one or two devices at the same time, while other devices are on “standby” and wait for their turn. I would usually see that two devices are charged at the same time and they will be quickly at full power. However, it is important to note that if you connect something that you use (like your phone) in a high priority trench, the PS-6cc may have trouble moving along the line, because it keeps coming back to finish it.
Another thing that I really like about the PS-6cc about my current charging station is that it is extremely portable. It is light and thin to the point that even some USB-C-hubs are ashamed, and I was very excited when the plugable charging station easily slid into my travel bag for technical accessory.
The idea to be able to take with you and use a charging hub while traveling instead of trying to balance multiple devices with one charger with more limited ports was a great prospect. I even had a trip while testing the PS-6cc, so I packed it and took it with me. Of course it was only then that I discovered the biggest mistake with this USB hub.
Only as good as the powerful brick you have
The PS-6cc is not full of a USB cable or food that I had not originally thought of much. I always thought it was strange that my current charging station had built in an A/C cable in it, because the use of a USB-C cable at hand seemed better. But after I took this charging station on the road, that built -in cable was so much more logical.
In essence, a charging station lives and dies through the power brick and cable with which you use it to connect it. If your brick or cable is on the older side, the PS-6cc cannot quickly charge devices, especially when it tries to jug about charging multiple devices at the same time.
I tested all the wall loaders I had in my house, and it turned out that the official Nintendo switch loader fits perfectly with the plugable charging station. Being a console charger meant that it would pull strength more easily than my standard adapters, and the PS-6cc could easily and quickly charge two devices at the same time. Some of my older Power bricks would have difficulty in keeping track of the station to move the load capacity along the line and to slowly charge one or two devices.
But even if some were slow, they all still worked. However, I didn’t think about testing the cable and brick in my travel bag. When I finished driving to my destination, I didn’t waste the time setting up the Plugable PS-6cc but once it was all connected, I saw a red light on the side of the station.
It appears that some power supplies cannot pull enough electricity for the USB hub to work completely, and my travel adapter was one of those plugs. So I was stuck with juggling with my devices on one charger, and it was my fault to start because I didn’t think about testing my travel equipment in advance.
This limitation is not surprising afterwards, especially because Plugable tells you the Wattage range that you need on the store page (18W to 100W), but it does mean that you might have to turn out for a good charger if you record it. Laying extra money is never fun, but if your equipment is relatively up -to -date, this will not be a problem.
For me, the Plugable PS-6cc is perfect for traveling. Given the small and lightweight design, it can easily be slipped in any bag and loading almost any device that you take with you. If it was bigger, it would be exaggerated for most travelers; Smaller, and you would probably be better off with a wall loader that had several gates instead. Factor in intelligent charging, and you have a murderous tech companion for the road. Make sure your power brick is up to the task.
