Chance Ikei stamps UFC-Ready status at LFA 220 and almost became a father during a fight

Chance Ikei delivered a breakthrough performance at LFA 220 on Saturday night, dominating Jordan Burkholder with relentless pressure and precision to secure one of the most impressive wins of his young career.

The Arizona prospect displayed a polished, fast-paced attack from start to finish, leaving little doubt that he is quickly emerging as a serious name to watch in the flyweight division.

“Big thanks to my coach Frankie and everyone at The MMA Lab. (They) put a lot of time and energy into the game plan and we went out and did what we had to do to execute,” Ikei told Cageside Press after the win.

“Overall a great camp and blessed to have all my brothers and sisters helping me every time.”

Ikea (6-0) didn’t hesitate when asked what’s next. The undefeated prospect made it clear he’s ready for the biggest leap of his career, and he’s not picky about how it comes.

“6-0, three fights down, so looking for an opportunity at Dana White’s Contender Series, a call on short notice or an LFA title shot. I’m ready to take either one,” he said.

Besides the win itself, Chance Ikei fought with more on his mind. His wife expected to give birth at any moment. The timing was so close that he admitted there was a very real chance he could have missed it completely.

“So excited! I’m very thankful he wasn’t born while I was in the cage. Luckily she’s still here in the crowd and will be spending the rest of the evening with her,” said Ikei.

“Now it’s all about her and getting him here.”
