Arrowfield Stud has said goodbye to one of its most highly regarded champions, with Golden Slipper and VRC Oaks winner Miss Finland passing away peacefully at the age of 22.
Arrowfield shared the news on social media and paid tribute to the outstanding mare.
“Our beloved superstar Miss Finland (Redoute’s Choice-Forest Pearl) passed away peacefully this morning at the age of 22, leaving us with the glowing memories of her exceptional racing career as a champion 2YO, champion 3YO filly and five-time Group 1 winner and gratitude for her legacy, led by her G1-winning and stakes-producing daughter Stay With Me.”
Arrowfield’s champion sire Redoute’s Choice saw Miss Finland withdrawn from broodmare duties in 2024. Her last foal is an unraced three-year-old filly by Dundeel named Martha’s Choice.
Miss Finland, a granddaughter of Group 1 Epsom Oaks winner Moonshell, produced twelve foals, nine of whom raced and seven became winners.
Her standout progeny was Group 1 MRC Thousand Guineas heroine Stay With Me, her only stakes winner, while Earth Angel, Bucharest and the ill-fated Miracle of Love were all in the stakes.
With four of her daughters still part of the Arrowfield broodmare band, Miss Finland’s influence will continue for generations to come.
