Week 8 is in the books and it contained striking versions in the competition. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats expanded their wins to five games to stay on top of the East Division, while the Saskatchewan Roughwan Roughriders played the Edmonton Elk in a defensive struggle to go to a CFL-Beste 6-1 record. As always, we emphasize the players who have had the biggest impact in the team of this week.
It is not surprising that Saskatchewan and Hamilton were in the lead in selections, in which they land seven and six players in the team respectively. Despite a convincing victory over Winnipeg, the Toronto Argonauts placed only two players on the list – a less than the Blue Bombers. On the other hand, the Edmonton was represented exclusively by Punter Cody Grace.

Quarterback of the week: QB BO Levi Mitchell, Hamilton
Bo Levi Mitchell continued his revival in the middle season with a new striking version. The Quarterback from Hamilton completed 34-41 passes for 389 yards and three touchdowns in week 8. Although he threw a interception, it came to a superhuman game from the defender. Mitchell did not record any turnover -worthy and added two large throws and ended with an impressively corrected completion rate of 82.5%. His 87.6 passing degree led all the quarterbacks for the week.
Mitchell’s turnaround has been remarkable. During his first three games, he placed a 56.8 passing figure with five turnover plays up to just one big throw. Since then he has earned a degree of 88.0 in the four games and has achieved 11 large throws.
Offensive player of the week: RB James Butler
It is difficult to claim that every CFL player enjoyed a larger back-back season than James Butler. Due to only eight games, the BC Running Back has already surpassed its production of 2023 and is on pace to darken 1,300 hurrying. In week 8, Butler led the competition with 16 wearing 115 yards and two touchdowns. He forced a CFL-Beste five missed tackles and an average of 4.2 yards after contact per Carry, also tops in the competition.
Impressive, each of his runs received a positive Yardage, which contributed to a competition-high 84.2 hasty figure for the week. In the season, Butler leads all running with an 89.9 hasty quality and 24 missed tackles forced.
Attacking line of the week: Hamilton Tiger-Cats
For the second consecutive week, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats played the top of the CFL’s topoffensive line-a unit that remains a driving force behind the five-game win-streak of the team. The group paved the way for Hamilton’s land competition to average competition-best 3.3 yards for contact per Carry average, and earned a CFL-Hoog 75.2 Run-Blocking number in week 8. In pass protection they were equally dominant, those zero bags and only six total prints over 45 dropbacks. The effort was again anchored by Centrum Coulter Woodmansey, who hit his fifth consecutive game without allowing a single edition.
Pass Rusher of the Week: Ed Malik Carney, Saskatchewan
The line of defense of the Saskatchewan Roughriders yielded a dominant achievement in week 8, so that the Pass Protection of Edmonton was dismantled from start to finish. The unit picked up eight bags and a striking 48 total passtrush victories. The manager was Malik Carney, who achieved two pockets, three hasty and five extra victories on the way to a competition-best 85.5 pass-rush figure. His 25.8% Passrush Win Rate is in second place for the week.
Carney stands up as an early leader for the most striking defensive Player Award. He currently leads the CFL in Passrush Grade (88.4), Pass-Rush Win Rate (22.8%) and Passrushing Productivity score (10.4).
Run Defender of the Week: LB Kyrie Wilson, Winnipeg
While the blue bombers still suffered a heavy loss, their run defense was a bright spot. Winnipeg kept Toronto’s running back to only 84 yards on 21 wears without touchdowns. Linebacker Kyrie Wilson was the anchor of that effort and earned an impressive 89.9 Run-Defense figure, the highest in the competition for week 8. He registered a CFL-Beste three Solo-Run stops, forced a mess and finished with four total tackles against the run.
In the season, Wilson leads the competition with a 90.0 Run-Defense figure and 11 solo stops.
Coverage Player of the Week: CB Robert Carter Jr., British Columbia
Carter delivered something that could go if the catch of the year-jumping, one-handed interception by Bo Levi Mitchell to save a touchdown. But his impact on the coverage reached further than that highlight. While he allowed six catches for 61 yards, only two resulted in the first downs. He also recorded a competition-high six coverage and broke another pass in the red zone. Carter led all defenders with an 88.1 coverage in week 8, a huge jump of his 42.9 Mark the last week.
