“Our club practitioners, in combination with the Afl CHIRAL Officer, have recommended the reference to the AFL -brain shudding panel to help a safe way forward in the interest of his current and future well -being.

“We are waiting for a date for the panel to convene and assess Jeremy, and there are various results that can result from their report.

“This can include personalized treatment or rehabilitation plans, an extension of the return-to-play time frame, recommendations for further tests or specialist references or pension on medical grounds.”

The fears of former teammate

In the aftermath of the incident, McGovern’s Premiership -Teammate Will Schofield told Perth Radio Station 6PR that he feared that the injury could be serious.

“I think this could be a much bigger story with its history of concussion than just a week off for GOV [McGovern]”Schaofield said on May 10.

“I don’t think this is just a normal one week of concussion, and go back there.

“I think they take it very seriously internally, and it can be a longer time in the game, if not completely.”

McGovern has played 197 games for the West Coast Eagles since he was taken into the Rookie Draft 2011.

He played famous in the Eagles 2018 Premiership Success, even though he was seriously injured the week before against Melbourne in the provisional final.

McGovern later revealed that he had suffered torn slanted (belly) muscles and needed six painkeling injections on the game day to take his place in the side.
