Norwich City pundit Jack Reeve has done just that labeled the season so far a “catastrophic failure” after Tuesday’s defeat to Derby County.

Norwich City came into this campaign with big ambitions.

She said goodbye to Johannes Hoff Thorup at the end of last season and ultimately hired Liam Manning as his permanent replacement. The NCFC hierarchy provided ample support for the new boss throughout the transfer window, but early form was lacking.

The Canary Islands were sentenced to a seventh defeat in eleven games on Tuesday evening, after losing 1-0 to Derby County. They have now lost four in a row and the pressure on Manning is already increasing.

Norwich City fans have not been afraid to make their feelings known expert Jack Reeve goes to X to do so in the wake of Tuesday’s loss.

Reeve emphasized that sporting director Ben Knapper had kept the play-offs to a minimum and this was the aim for this season, labeling their efforts so far as a “catastrophic failure”. He wrote:

“Ben Knapper said before the season that anything below the top six would be considered a failed season.

“#NCFC are in the bottom three.

“Don’t get it twisted, it has been a cataclysmic failure for everyone involved so far.”

Reeve’s words come amid Norwich City boss Manning’s pledge to fight on, insisting he retains Knapper’s support.

A turnaround in Norwich City is needed for both Liam Manning and Ben Knapper

Some might argue that Manning is already fighting for his future at Norwich City. There has been speculation about a possible dismissal, but the boss remains defiant and concrete rumors of impending changes have not circulated.

Having paid to take over as boss from Bristol City and funded a squad makeover in the summer, there is a good chance he will be backed for a while.

However, you can’t help but feel that both Manning and Knapper are in dire need of results. The head coach is battling to convince the Carrow Road faithful he can be the boss to finally lead them back to the Premier League.

As for Knapper, this would be the second failed executive appointment of his tenure. Both Thorup and Manning have been financially supported and the director has expressed promotion opportunities without achieving results.

If another appointment fails, it may not be long before the hierarchy decides to make changes in that position as well.

A crucial series of games in Norwich City

This weekend Norwich City are scheduled to travel to South Wales to take on Swansea City. Alan Sheehan’s side have fought for consistency but are a determined team and will face another tough test.

Returning to Carrow Road next week to take on Hull City. The Tigers play exciting attacking football under Sergej Jakirovic.

A midweek draw at Sheffield Wednesday provides a perfect opportunity to get three points on the board before making a quick turnaround against Leicester City on November 8 before the international break.

Only time will tell what exactly will happen with Manning’s future, with this series of games certainly being decisive.
