Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool clinched the year-end ATP doubles No. 1 ranking at the Nitto ATP Finals on Tuesday, presented by PIF Honors.
The British recovered from their opening defeat by beating defending champion Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz 7-6(9), 6-2. Neither team had a break point in the first set, but the top seeds found their best as the match progressed at the Inalpi Arena, where they saved three set points to steal the opener. Cash and Glasspool rarely let go of their group to complete a one-hour, 22-minute victory.

Cash and Glasspool have teamed up for seven tour-level titles this season, with their wins at Wimbledon and the ATP Masters 1000 event in Canada highlighting their memorable season.
“It’s been a crazy year, that’s for sure,” Cash said after winning the Year-End ATP Doubles No. during an on-court ceremony. 1, awarded by the PIF trophy. “We put in a tremendous amount of work during the offseason. We couldn’t have done it without everyone in the box, including my family up there. It takes a lot of people to get to this place.”
“We checked off so many boxes this year and I think at the beginning of the year we both really believed that this was possible for us. It’s very surreal to be standing here now.”
Glasspool added: “We wouldn’t be here without our box and our team. They’ve supported us for many, many years. It’s been an incredible year. For ourselves too. I think we’ve worked really hard. We’ve pushed each other a lot.
By defeating Krawietz and Puetz, Cash and Glasspool secured their fifth consecutive Lexus ATP Head2Head victory against the Germans. Cash and Glasspool lost to Krawietz and Puetz in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open this year and have since taken a 5-1 lead in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series.
After falling to home favorites Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori in their first match of the Peter Fleming Group, Cash and Glasspool are now 1-1 this week and will next face Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos.
