Case study: Sussex Senior 4* – Table Tennis England

Following a highly successful Sussex Senior 4*, which was oversubscribed in all categories and met financial targets, we are sharing insights from the event to help other tournament organizers replicate its success.

The event was held at the K2 venue in Crawley in September, with 30 tables on the road and prize money of £1,200. It was the largest Senior 4* held to date since the format was added to the competition calendar last season.

It was organized by Sussex County TTA, who wanted to provide a quality competition for their local players whilst supporting the wider table tennis community, creating more qualified officials and gaining experience so that they could organize more competitions in the future.

Our case study, which can be downloaded below, shares key information about how the organizers went about ensuring a successful event, and how Table Tennis England can help other potential organizers follow their blueprint – including direct financial support from Table Tennis England.

The case study has also been added to the ‘one-stop-shop’ information available to local organizing groups in our Tournaments Explained document – and further insight, including participation/date statistics and trends, is available on request.

Other 4* events were held in Nottingham and Cleveland last season, with more to be announced soon with the upcoming release of the 2026-27 calendar. If a club, league or province is interested in hosting an event near you, please contact us for more information.
