A bonus of a million dollars will be picked up again when the Harness Racing New South Wales Tab Carnival of Cups series returns to tracks in the entire state in November.
The seven-digit-sum will be awarded to the owners of each horse who can win the function race at each of the five Tab Carnival of Cups Race meetings.
The bonus schedule was announced today in combination with a fun video campaign in which leading drivers Robbie Morris and Josh Gallagher, as well as Robbie’s son Archie, changed into characters of the film Austin Powers to re-create his iconic dollars scene. ((You can view it here))
Again, the bonus is also offered if a horse can win three or four of the functions, with $ 500,000 the reward for each horse that can win four out of five functions. It will again be $ 250,000 for winning three of the play races and balloons up to a million for winning all five.
Earlier this year, Star Pacer Swayzee earned $ 500,000 for his connections after winning four of the five play races during season 2 of the Carnival of Cups series.
HRNSW director Peter Buckman said that bringing back the lucrative bonus stimulus was a priority after the success of the promotion during season 2.
“It certainly had the whole industry talking about it and paying attention to those racing meetings and even half a million before grabbing the last night in Penrith there was an incredible sense of theater for the occasion when he chased the money,” said Mr Buckman.
“With the bonus that starts with three racing victories, this means that there is always a significant prizemoney stimulans on the line and it certainly strengthens the profile of those function races for the greatest crowds that our industry has ever seen on regional tracks.
“It also means that there is a chance for racing fans to see some of the elite pacers and drivers in our sport with really high -quality horses that go to the regions for those gaming races, so it is a really positive campaign that we wanted to return for season 3.
“I know that there are many owners and trainers who already realize on the Carnival of Cups series and I was quite often asked about it on the Tableka at the weekend, so I am delighted to confirm the return.”
Season 3 of the Carnival of Cups starts on November 14 in Wagga before going to Newcastle on December 5. It returns in the new year in Bathurst on January 30, followed by Albury on 13 February and Penrithh on March 20.
This season, the Carnival of Cups program also includes the final of the Lucrative Tab Regional Championships series.
Some of the largest bands and artists in Australia will offer trackside entertainment at every event. Ian Moss, the Superjesus and 1927 will lead the carnival of cups in November in Wagga Riverina Paceway.
