The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that Carney will meet with Qatari Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, along with several business officials and investors.
The agency says Carney wants to create new partnerships in areas such as artificial intelligence, infrastructure, energy and security.
Carney will make a stopover in Qatar after visiting Beijing for several days before heading to Davos, Switzerland, where he will attend the World Economic Forum from January 19 to 21.
The prime minister will meet President Xi Jinping next week in the first official trip to China by a Canadian prime minister in nearly a decade.
