Carlos Alcaraz Powers along Jannik Sinner in four sets to win open

When Carlos Alcaraz is fully focused and his impossible complete game is in full swing, nothing in the world can stop him. Because he has spent the early years of his career with collecting large titles at a breathless pace, this has long been clear. On the biggest stage in Tennis, he strengthened sentiment with an amazing version against his greatest rival, where he completely surpassed Jannik Sinner, the Nr. 1 and title defender to eliminate his second US open title with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory.

At the end of the most spectacular summer of his career, Alcaraz Sinner will replace as World No 1, who returns to the highest ranking for the first time in two years. The 22-year-old also continues to mark himself as one of the greatest ever young players: he is the second-jongest man in the open era to earn six Grand Slam titles, with only Björn Borg. He is also the fourth man who wins several Grand Slam titles on all three surfaces.

This match-up marked the first time that the same men participated in the open era in the same calendar year in the same calendar year, with Alcaraz ending the trilogy with a 2-1 lead. He now has a 10-5 record about Sinner and wins seven of their last eight meetings.

On this occasion, Alcaraz was able to do everything he wanted with the tennis ball for the best part of three hours. He served brilliant and hit his devastating forehand with total precision, but he also showed his variation in fully, constantly ranging, spider and trajectory of his shots. He kept sinner completely out of balance and could not get a rhythm with his destructive foundations.

This was one of the most important days of the tennis year, and yet the story was hijacked by the presence of Donald Trump, the American president. At night Arthur Ashe Stadium was tightly surrounded by security barriers in airport style and when fans started to enter the stadium, they were monitored by agents of the secret service. The men’s trophy was placed in the Rolex Suite next to Trump, which is not the usual protocol. When the American president was finally shown on the big screen at the end of the first set, the majority of the audience fascinated.

As 2 pm approached, the shame took place for the United States Tennis Association. Due to the dramatically increased security, the queues to enter the stadium on the tournament soundtern and the start time was postponed until 2.30 pm. The final started with thousands of fans who are still waiting to take a seat. Hundreds were still outside during the second set.

Nobody, it turns out, was just as excited for a rematch of the French Open and Wimbledon Finals as Alcaraz itself. He enchanted every part of his wonderful game from the start. He continued the excellent serving form that led him through the tournament and he hit his destructive forehand with total freedom and completely dominated the basic line.

In the core of his performance, however, was the way in which he unfolded the different layers of his impossible complete game, causing Sinner to deal with skidding low slices, trips to the grid, constant changes in the trajectory of the ball and shots. With the roof closed due to rain, the sterile inner conditions were generally considered a positive for the sinner, but Alcaraz set the tone with a flawless opening set.

After having confronted an hour of ruthless pressure, Sinner dragged himself to the match on Alcaraz’s serve at 2-1, which closed a brilliant point after a masterful forehand-drop-volley to reach 0-30 before breaking to love. After she had only hit two casual mistakes in Set One, Alcaraz Sinner’s growing error counted to grow in the game. Sinner suddenly hit his stains with his first serve and he checked much more of the stock exchanges with his destructive, metronomic ball that stood out as he brought the match efficiently.

Less than two months ago at Wimbledon, Sinner Alcaraz was behind with a set before he bull boxes through the last three sets. There would be no repetition here. Alcaraz recovered immediately and recovered his dominant mining, its variation and his control over the basic line. After he grabbed the opening break, he flashed through the third set to make two sets to one lead before he immediately generated breaking points on Sinner’s Serve.

With his back to the wall, the sinner fought desperately to the end. He won many of the hectic, scattered cat and mouse points that are typical of this rivalry, including a stunning combination of Volleys Down breaking point at 0-1 in the fourth set that finally attracted a full stadium at his feet. However, when he is in this mood and everything flows so effortlessly, the game from Alcaraz can reach scales to heights that no one else, including Sinner, can reach. Even now, in six majors, it feels like he has just started.
