Carlos Alcaraz’s coach Juan Carlos Ferrero has openly talked about the parties of the Tennis Aas in Ibiza after winning the French Open. The young Spaniard fought from behind to beat Jannik Sinner in a nail biting final in Roland-Garros.

Alcaraz saved three championship points to win a 4-6, 6-7 (4), 6-4, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (2) victory and defend his title. After the game it was revealed that the 22-year-old plans had for a well-deserved three-day bash on the party island.

This repeated his celebration of last year’s triumph at the French Open. Spend against The LagueroFerrero shared what he had told Alcaraz and left the five-time Grand Slam winner with crucial advice.

“Yesterday I told him that he should have a good time, that he deserved it, but to remember that he is always a tennis player,” Ferrero explained. “We know how he is and do him well nowadays. When he returns, he returns with a clear head, renewed.

“It’s no longer about the word ‘party’, but about disconnecting. Being with his friends and not thinking of tennis and being a normal 22-year-old, and working with enthusiasm again.”

While he sees the break as useful, Ferrero’s last comment suggests that Alcaraz’s parties will soon be over. The 22-year-old will have to prepare to defend his Wimbledon title later this month.

The focus on the celebrations of Alcaraz comes after the young tennis AAS had discussed his parties during his recently released Netflix documentary, Carlos Alcaraz: My Way. He has enjoyed a similar break since 2023 at the same time of the year.

“Look, in Ibiza … I’m not going to lie to you,” admitted Alcaraz during the documentary. “It’s about partying and going out. I went there to let go. I don’t know if it’s right to say so, but I went outside.

“I made the best of it. Upon my return I won with Queen’s and Wimbledon of course. I am not saying that I won because of the party, but those days have done me well. And if it goes well, I have to repeat it.”

Alcaraz seems to have done that exactly after his Roland-Garros Triumph. His coach is aware that this leads to an increased control of Alcaraz, but he believes that a more balanced life is ultimately useful.

“Now everything is being discussed, as soon as the documentary came out, we knew that there would be negative comments, especially if he loses,” Ferrero explained. “If he had lost in Paris, people would certainly have said he should go to Ibiza.

“Although the documentary talks about his own way, the way of carlos is to train. We don’t use much training volume, I prefer two hours of absolute quality for four hours with poor posture. I used to train much more, but the requirements of the circuit make us looking for quality and effective training. When we have asked Carlos, he did that.”

After the stunning victory of Alcaraz, Ferrero confessed that he had doubts about the opportunities of the Frnech Open Champion to conquer the title from such a challenging position. “In the third [set] Also a break after losing two sets, when you sit in the chair, you start thinking that Jannik may not have lost a set and I am two sets down, it will be very difficult to come back.

“But I think his strength is to keep believing all the time until the last ball is gone and he is trying and trying. He was 0-40 in the fourth, 5-3 and he looked at me and he still makes the racket, still saying that we are still here, still say vamos.

“I am not going to say that I believed that he was able to recover from this, 5-3, 0-40. But with Carlos everything is possible and he did it again. Amazing performance.”
