Cardiff City were left reeling after their relegation from the Championship earlier this year. Having played in the Premier League in 2019, the Bluebirds still have long-term ambitions of a return to the top flight.
Attention has now shifted to rebuilding from the ground up. Central to that plan is nurturing young talent, overseen by highly regarded head coach and former Manchester City academy coach Brian Barry-Murphy.
A new young talent is being monitored by the Bluebirds ahead of January. According to Football competition WorldCardiff City are keeping tabs on Peterborough United striker Kyrell Lisbie.
Lisbie joined Posh only this summer, but was impressive despite their poor first half of the season. However, he has been a big part of them revival under Luke Williamshelping Peterborough propel themselves up into League One.

This is Lisbie’s first season in the professional leagues after impressing during his time in non-league. Last season he scored 17 goals in 49 games for National League Braintree Town.
Peterborough United’s attacking talent ID
Although Lisbie hasn’t scored many goals since joining Peterborough United, he has looked sharp. He looks to be the next striker from the fancy conveyor belt as Cardiff City lurk.
Posh have had many top strikers over the last fifteen years, some of which have made them a lot of money. Britt Assombalonga and Ivan Toney led the way financially for Peterborough, but others such as Craig Mackail-Smith and Dwight Gayle also left their mark at Posh.
Other former Peterborough United stars are also spread across the Championship, where Cardiff City hope to play next season. Ronnie Edwards, Joel Ward and Sikiki Dembele played perhaps their best football with Posh.
Lisbie would be the last man to make a big profit for Peterborough United if he moved on. It is very likely that the money will be reinvested in another promising future.
Cardiff City’s current attacking options
The Bluebirds currently have a lot of attacking talent, both out wide and through the middle. Should Lisbie join the club, he would have good competition for places.
Outwide, Lisbie will compete against the likes of Ollie Tanner, Isaak Davies, Cian Ashford and Omari Kellyman. All of these options would be starters for most League One teams, possibly even in the Championship.
Signing Lisbie would again be good long-term planning for Cardiff City. He would join a very good young core of players as the Bluebirds continue to plan for the future.
