Capitals show some grit and finishing Tampa in OT!

After a great performance from Lindgren in the last game, it was time for Logan Thompson to show why Washington has the best goaltending tandem in the league on Tuesday night in DC.

Tampa got on the board first through Jake Guentzel, who beat LT with a pass from the point I have no idea how he found Jake’s stick, 1-0 bad guys.

After some back and forth in the 2nd period, with only about 2 minutes left, Connor Mick used a sneaky silky pass to Aliaksei Protas, which completely fooled Vasilevskiy, who thought Connor was going for the turnover, leaving the right side of the net wide open for Pro.

This was Pro’s third goal of the season and he leads the Caps team with 5 points this season. Big season coming up for Pro!

After a penalty, Tampa went to the power play where Lightening struck again on a Hedman shot on net that was deflected past LT by Brayden Point.

I must have created it by talking about how bad our power play has been in my last blog. The Caps scored a goal on the power play to tie the game on a shot from the top of the circles by Dylan Strome that was beautifully tipped by Tom Wilson, 2-2 ball game.

Wilson is now tied with Dale Hunter and Michal Pivonka for the twelfth most goals in franchise history. Not too shabby for a guy who people say is just a guy on the ice.

In overtime, the Capitals controlled the puck. Tom Wilson turned behind the net and then delivered a pass to a crashing backdoor Jakob Chychrun who clapped home the OT winner. (Cue Bandz and make her dance)

This was also Tom Wilson’s 400th point. From the 2012 NHL Draft, he is the sixth member to reach this milestone. He also ranks third in goals scored in the same league.

Caps win 3-2!

Alex Ovechkin always seems to start the season slow the last few seasons because, let’s face it, his offseason schedule doesn’t consist of living in the iron paradise or bag skating every day anymore. He enjoys his time, which he well deserves. He usually skates himself into shape, but in month 2 of the season. Ovi will get his goals. I’m not worried.

The Capitals are back in action on Friday against the Wild, let’s get another two points!
