Can’t log in to WordPress.org

It sounds like your WordPress.org account Passkeys / two -factor authentication Switched on and the login screen requires that second step.

If you do not have access to the device or method that you originally set, you cannot complete the login with only your username/password.

Here are the steps you can take:

  1. Try another sign -in -method
    Search for a link like a link such as “Register in a different way” or “Use password + e -mail” – This allows you to sometimes fall back on your registered e -mail for verification.

  2. Check for back -up codes
    If you have previously enabled two factor/MFA, WordPress.org may have given you a set of recovery codes. Each of them can be used to bypass the missing key.

  3. Please contact WordPress.org support
    Go to the WordPress.org Login Help form Or e -mail the address stated in the Help documents.
    You must offer:

    • Your username
    • The e -mail address linked to the account
    • Any other identifying information
      They can reset your two -factor configuration so that you can log in again.
  4. Switch off passkeys or register again (if you are back in)
    After you get access, you can also:

    • Add a passkey to a device that you control and store backup codes securely.
    • Or remove passkeys completely if you prefer only password + e -mail.

Important: Passkeys and security keys are bound by your devices. If the person you have registered, is lost or does not work, the only way to use indoors by using backup codes or having support reset the 2FA on your account.
