LEXINGTON, Ky. – The third session of the 2025 Kentucky October Yearlings Sale took place Wednesday at the Newtown Paddocks in Lexington, Kentucky. During this year’s three days of sales, the results of the sale continued to trend upward compared to last year’s record extension. The session gross was $19,546,500, surpassing the previous single-session gross record on Monday.

A colt by Candy Ride (ARG) (hip 843) topped the third session when it sold for $850,000 to DJ Stable from the consignment of Gainesway, agent (video). The chestnut stallion is out of Unrivaled Princess (Tapit), a daughter of multiple class 1 winning millionaire Unrivaled Belle and a full sister of two-time champion and millionaire Unique Bella. Hip 843 was bred in Kentucky by Liberty Road Stables.

“It was a fantastic day,” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning. “There were dramatic increases in average price and gross sales. Great trading and great activity, great energy throughout the day. It’s fun to sell in a marketplace like it is now.”

The top five deals selling Wednesday also include:

A colt by Good Magic (hip 1143), sold for $550,000 to Mahmud Mouni from the consignment of Woods Edge Farm, agent. The brown colt is the first foal from the Bernardini mare Carats and Cake. Immediate family includes Class 2 winning millionaire Lewis Bay and winners Misconnect, Winslow Homer and Lost Raven. Hip 1143 was bred in Kentucky by Woods Edge Farm.

A filly by Nyquist (hip 861), sold for $500,000 to Mayberry Farm from the consignment of Blandford Stud (Padraig Campion), agent. The bay filly is out of the Violence mare Violencia, who has produced three winners from as many starters to date, including this year’s winning two-year-old. Hip 861 was bred in Kentucky by Manitou Farm.

A filly by Justify (hip 897), sold for $500,000 to Trade Winds Farm from the consignment of Darby Dan Farm, agent. The gray or russet filly is the second foal out of the multiple-ranked stakes winner Winter Sunset (Tapit), herself a daughter of multiple Grade 1-winning millionaire Winter Memories. Winter Memories is in turn a daughter who is of course the record holder of multiple class 1 winner and millionaire Memories of Silver. Hip 897 was bred in Kentucky by Phillips Racing Partnership.

A colt by Justify (hip 1122), sold for $460,000 to Mahmud Mouni from the consignment of Hill ‘n’ Dale of Xalapa, agent for Coteau Grove Farms. The chestnut colt is out of the To Honor and Serve mare Call to Service, whose two winners to date include three-time stakes winner The Wine Steward (Vino Rosso), who is also Grade 1 placed and has placed multiple graduated stakes. The immediate family, including multi-level winning millionaire Skelly.

Browning added, “I think you’ve seen the result of both buyers and sellers having more confidence in the Kentucky October Yearlings sale and the quality continuing to improve year after year after year.”

Over three sessions, 821 yearlings sold for $53,177,500, an increase of 25.6% over the three-session total of 820 yearlings sold for $42,325,500. The running average rose 25.5% to $64,772 from the comparable 2024 average of $51,616. The median held steady at $30,000 across sessions, a 50% gain from the $20,000 three-session median last year. The RNA percentage through Wednesday was 19.7%.
