Potentially long lines and crowds are no match for the appeal of Costco’s offerings. Since 1976, it has grown into a global dynamo, with more than 800 locations around the planet. It could be your secret weapon to cheaper car repairs, the palace of stand-alone hams and everlasting $1.50 hot dogs, the gateway to new kitchen cabinets, or simply your source for cheap gas.

And it’s a renowned gas, with its glowing Top Tier approval. Plus, with a simple $65 Costco membership, you can join the club around the world. In the US, Costco undercuts local fuel price averages by 5 to 25 cents per gallon (here’s our breakdown of whether Costco’s gas discount is worth the membership). There are similar savings abroad if you’re heading to or already live in one of the Costco warehouse locations that serve Kirkland Signature Fuel.

According to CostcoIn addition to its private label packaged goods, the company also operates self-serve gas stations in a number of locations in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom, Spain, Mexico, Taiwan and Iceland. Fuel sales also appear to be available in New Zealand, Sweden, France and Spain.

Regional Costco websites and apps should provide you with current fuel prices – and tell you what forms of payment are accepted at that location – so you can plan accordingly.

Costco fuel prices abroad vs. national averages

Gasoline is one of the many auto-related benefits the company offers at a discount through its proven purchasing and pricing strategy. In a note tucked into the fuel FAQ: Costco explains, “Costco’s approach to fuel is the same as the warehouse: high volume and low prices.” Naturally, fuel markets fluctuate, but from January 12, 2026, Costco gas and diesel deals will be available for members abroad.

In Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Costco advertised regular gas at $1.32 per gallon, versus the national average of $1.44. In France, the average price was $1.95 per liter, while regular Costco gas ranged from $1.75 to $1.82 by location. Diesel at Costco Liverpool cost $1.58 per litre, while the UK average was $1.79.

When doing research, comparing national averages to specific locations takes advantage of the local context. At Costco Pontault-Combault, diesel plus stood at $2.09 per liter, while the national diesel average in France was $1.89. That seems like a bad deal, until you discover that another local gas station in Pontault-Combault is selling diesel for $2.17 per liter.

Warnings? Foreign transaction fees, which usually range from 1% to 3%, can increase your actual costs if your bank or credit card company imposes them, but they apply regardless of where you buy fuel. And of course, wherever current fuel prices are listed online, Costco universally denies that “the prices shown here are updated regularly but may not reflect the price at the pump at the time of purchase.” But even in that case, Costco’s overall pricing strategy still applies.
