I love the Honda Civic type R. This should not be really news for someone who has ever read something else that I once wrote about the subject, but I am a big fan of Honda’s hottest shutters. I think they are enough that I would even consider having one, and it is so rarely worthwhile to own a car in Brooklyn. But something continues to prevent me from creating cash: used Civic type RS costs too damn much.
The current FL5 generation, I certainly understand that those who are expensive. It does not exist for that long, and many people prefer the more subtle appearance above the more aggressive styling of the previous Gen FK8. However, I enjoy the driving dynamics of the FK8 with legal speeds, and I really think that the looks are gracefully outdated since the days that it was described as a gun (as if that is somehow bad). I would like to get hold of the older car, but they are still difficult to find less than $ 30,000.
I would ask why so much of these were destroyed, but that is not really a difficult question to answer
Each type of RI looks one of two things: more than $ 30,000, or destroyed in one way or another. So many of these cars are supplied with storage or rebuilded titles, where almost everyone claims to be a theft recovery and absolutely no chassis that was turned to hell after a driver tried to drive their front -wheel drive and eventually in a street lamp. Perhaps the huge number of destroyed cars artificially raise the prices of good, limiting their stock, but still – 30 big? For a nine -year -old Civic?
As a car journalist I would very much on a Civic type R. As a car journalist, but my $ 65,000 salary does not quickly cover a $ 30,000 decade old Civic, especially while the rental prices in New York City are what they are. My dream of an elegant aging FK8 seems to be out of reach forever, but maybe I will ever get one of these fantastic warm shutters. Preferably in Geel.
