August and September have not been a great months for crypto investors, but that is not necessarily a bad thing because markets now and then need a healthy breathing break. Bitcoin (BTC), the largest cryptocurrency based on market capitalization, decreased by around 6.5% in August and so far in September only around 3.14% of that decrease has been recovered.

A quick glance at the BTC price diagram below shows that the price of BTC was stupid around $ 110,000 (all figures in US dollars unless otherwise specified) – plus or at least 10% since May 2025. This is a consolidation, which indicates that neither the bulls are neither the hand lying by the hand.

Nobody can accurately predict the market based on such historical data, so what can crypto investors learn from this? If you are Bullish about BTC, Ethereum (ETH) and other cryptocurrencies, it usually pays to stay invested – especially until October and November – despite the historical ariting of August and September.

Is Altcoin season over?

Altcoin season refers to the phase of the Crypto market in which alternative coins (other than BTC) perform BTC itself in price valuation. The Altcoin season usually appears at the end of a Bull cycle -the phase in which we are probably now. A few months ago I wrote about an Altcoin season in an earlier edition of this column, when I marked the possibility of ETH and other cryptocurrencies that perform better than BTC in the second half of 2025.

As the graph below shows, we are in Altcoin season based on the CMC Altcoin Season Index. This index follows the performance of altcoins compared to BTC for 90 days and points a score from 0 to 100, with a score of more than 70 that indicates the outperformance of Altcoins compared to BTC.

The race for Altcoin ETFS is on

The race for Altcoin ETFs in the US is switched on. Although Altcoin ETFs are already available for Canadian investors, we are about to see a stream of new Altcoin ETFs being launched in the US in the coming months.

Recently, on September 25, 2025, the Hashdex Nasdaq Crypto Index ETF announced that they will expand their crypto ETF companies To record XRP, Sol and Stellar (XLM). The recording of these altcoins will create the first real multi-crypto ETF in the US. This is a sign of the things that are still coming.

While 2024 was the year for BTC ETFs, 2025 is the year for ETH and other Altcoin ETFs. We could see a whole series of Altcoin ETFs being launched in the US as a result of streamlining the strip rules by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). As reported by ReutersThese streamlined sec -lines rules (applicable to crypto ETFs) would reduce the estimated list period from approximately 240 days to just 70 days.

Canadian investors who are looking for a multi-crypto ETF with exposure to BTC and Altcoins can consider these two ETFs-to-say trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX).

Crypto price fluctuations are common

Cryptocurrencies, including BTC, ETH, XRP, SOL, XLM and others are speculative and remain very volatile assets to considerable price fluctuations. Even Stablecoins, who are apparently ‘safe’, can be risky, if not sufficiently supported by Real-World assets.
