Due to her favorable front row draw, Soho Americano was sent off as firm favourite, with Beach Diamond as second favourite. As expected, Soho Americano found the lead from New South Wales visitor Peace Out and eventually secured a track. But just as Luke McCarthy dropped Soho Americano at the front, Cameron Hart set Beach Diamond on fire with a devastating sprint that put everyone to sleep.
BEACH DIAMOND NOV 22 REPETITION
Once in the lead, Hart steadied the field and came away with the first two final quarters of 31.9 and 30.7 seconds. It was clear that the race would be a sprint home and that Soho Americano would be the only danger. McCarthy went for the inside run, but Beach Diamond was able to run a crushing final quarter of 26.1 seconds to comfortably hold off Soho Americano.

There was a lot to like about Peace Out’s game effort to hold on to third place.
Hart was full of praise for Beach Diamond.
The speed was quite calm in the first corner and I thought it wouldn’t hurt if there was a crack in it.
I was confident I could sit outside them and make it a race. Once we were able to find the front end it definitely helped. It was more of a foot movement when I asked her to speed up. She probably went a little faster. All credit to the horse, she was great tonight. I’m super grateful
I have the great privilege of riding these fillies. She rarely lets me down and always does her best.
Beach Diamond was narrowly defeated by Soho Americano in the Victoria Oaks Final and there isn’t much between these quality mares. They are sure to continue their rivalry in mare racing as they reach age four and older.
