In May of this year we received a preview of the beautiful callum e-type concept, a perfect mix of classic Jaguar ’60-Charme and a slim modern design aesthetics. Now the English designer is back with another showstopper: Meet the Vanquish 25 Shooting Brake, a new turn to one of Aston Martin’s most iconic Grand Tourers, shared through one Recent message on Instagram.
For those who are not aware, Callum is one of the most influential car designers of all time, with a career of decades, including almost 20 remarkable years at Jaguar, The line -up of the brand reforms until the 2000s and 2010. He also wrote the original Aston Martin Vanquish and came up with a timeless form that balances aggressive sportiness with refined British elegance.
The V12-driven Vanquish was of course the Halo car of Aston of the era and was launched in 2001. It was then seen in the James Bond film Die another day The following year in ’02. Fun fact: the green Jaguar XKR, seen in the iconic Pierce Brosnan Chase scene on a frozen lake, Is also a callum design.
Fast forward to more recent times, and the independent design agency of Callum decided to visit the model again with a modern view of the original. Dubbeds Callum Vanquish 25, the Limited Commission Restomod (25 examples) built by the British R-Reformed, for the first time broke cover in 2019. Callum then teased the Vanquish 25 shooting brake in 2023 and the build On that already amazing coupé. Without a doubt you can best appreciate this new form and profile from the side and behind ¾ view.
In addition to the visual upgrades, the 6.0-liter V12 of the coupe was lifted to produce 580 hp, an increase of 520, thanks to an intake of carbon fiber, improved camshafts and revised motor mapping, with the option to choose between a manual or automatic transmission. On the handling front, the car received Bilstein dampers, stiffer anti-roll bars, reduced ride height and a wider track. Wider 20-inch wheels and more modern Michelin pilot belts with carbon ceramic brakes wrap the upgrades.
Just come back to Shooting brakes, the idea is not new if you look back on Aston’s own history. In the 1960s, the DB5 and DB6 shooting brakes were made by various coachbuilders such as Harold Radford or FLM Panelcraft, for customers who want something unique. The virage took the shooting brake shape in the 1990s and 2014.
More recently, the Zagato Vanquish Shooting Brake, which debuted in 2017, was limited to 99 units, a hit, because of his alien view of the traditional two -door wagon form and Zagato’s characteristic double bubble roof. It certainly attracted the attention of a select number outside, which still look for some usability and space from a powerful sports car, while wrapped in an excellent coach-built package. Ian Callum’s Vanquish 25 shooting brake fits straight into the same tradition.
Our recent review of the latest victories was all praise for modern technology and all high-end upgrades, but if you are a fan of the original form of victory and are looking for slightly more pragmatic and tailored to today’s standards, this shooting brake will bring things up to speed and be certainly on your radar.
Not yet a word about prices or specifications, but for a context the coupe cost £ 550,000 (~ $ 740k) when he debuted. With regard to this shooting brake, Callum Designs says that it is pure conceptual for the time being, and interested parties must contact them to find out more. Expect the same performance level, refinement, craftsmanship and crucial, exclusivity in this more suggestive bodystyle. View this space.
