The victory came for New Jersey-based trainer Petter Engblom and brings the American record from 23-year-old to 50 disks for 3 wins, 4 seconds and 7 thirds since arrival at the end of July.

Callaghan, who has collected more than 800 victories in Australia, including seven at group 1 level, immediately made an impact when he made his debut earlier this month in the famous Meadowlands with a two -squeeze on his first night of driving the American race.

It was the perfect start for the young rider, who had long dreamed of testing himself on our bottom.

Callaghan, born in a strong armor racing family in New South Wales, has sharpened his skills with his father Mark in Newcastle for Stints with Luke McCarthy and more recently as an important driver for the Jason Grimson Stable.

The American journey, which will take place until the end of September, went just as well about learning and networking when it came to having to chase winners.

Callaghan is located at Todd McCarthy-one from the most successful exports from Australia to the US and has also visited the barns of high-profile trainers, including Noel Daley, Brett Pelling and De Tinters.

Racing at locations such as Meadowlands, Yonkers and Harrah’s Philadelphia, Callaghan has already broadened his experience. He lingered for various stables, including former Pat Australians Daley, Shane Tritton and Aaron Lambert.

The early success of Callaghan has caused an inevitable speculation about whether he could strive for a longer term in America, but for now he remains focused on returning to Australia with a broadened perspective to request at home.

He admits that he is interested in more permanent in the US in the future, but says that the possibility of absorbing the American system and its racing style is the most valuable part of his time abroad.
