Although Cal Raleigh on Tuesday stole the headlines with his two historical swings of the bat, he was not the only sailor who created history. Dominic Canzone also had a night that will be remembered forever in the history of Mariners.
Overshadowed by Raleigh who hit his 55th and 56th home runs, bind him with MLB legend Ken Griffey JR. For the record of Seattle, Canzone has compiled one of the best statistical trips in the franchise history.
Canzone, who served as the designated batter in the first game of the three game of Seattle in Kansas City, was a perfect 5-out-5 with three own home runs.
The 28-year-old tool player only became the second Mariner who once reached a 5-out-5 three Homer game, joined Kyle Seager, who reached the rare attack in 2019.
Canzone entered the game with only seven home runs in the year. He has now played 10 in 72 games. Canzone has 21 career HRs in general through three MLB seasons.
Prior to Tuesday, Canzone’s last home run came on August 5. And in addition to his home runs, he hits .304 with 28 RBI and an on-base percentage of .363.
But as much as fans of Seattle loving the long ball, is the history that they probably especially appreciate the success of the Mariners team. Heavily driven by the bats of Raleigh and Canzone, the M’s De Royals, 12-5, defeated their wintreak to 10 games.
On 83-68, the victory also enables Seattle to hold the top in the American League West. The Mariners are trying to win a division title for the first time since 2001. As soon as the late season starts, the Mariners will try to etch their names further in history by capturing the first American League -Wimpel of the franchise.
