Fighting Nerds’ Caio Borralho has given his two cents on the potential matchup between Conor McGregor and his teammate Carlos Prates.
Rumors recently circulated that Prates would fight McGregor at the White House.
“The Notorious” is a game that can be played against any welterweight prospect. He claims he has already accepted a date and an opponent for his return fight and has repeatedly asked the UFC to send him the contract.
Caio Borralho reacts to a possible match between Conor McGregor and Carlos Prates
After rumors surfaced that his teammate Prates could face Conor McGregor, Caio Borralho was super excited about the potential matchup and immediately called Prates. “The Natural” shared his response with Mike Bohn of MMA Junkie:
“Bro, to be honest, I had no idea about this. I promise you I saw the poster today, and I immediately messaged Carlos, but he hasn’t responded yet. I said, ‘What the heck. Are you going to fight McGregor, brother? Bro, if this is true and you haven’t told me, I’m going to kill you!’ That’s what I told him.”
Borralho added that if the fight does happen, it will be a “terribly good fight,” but so far he doesn’t know if it will actually happen.
“I’m in the same place as you guys. I hope from the bottom of my heart that this fight will be true and that they will fight, because it’s going to be a damn good fight, brother. So that’s what I’m waiting for, let’s see.”
If the fight comes to fruition, Borralho believes his teammate has what it takes to beat the Irishman. Giving his thoughts on how the potential fight could go down, the 33-year-old, who is also a fan of the Dubliner, added:
“I don’t think it’s a good fight for Conor McGregor because they’re both southpaws, Carlos will kick him in the calf a lot and he has more knockout power. I don’t think it’s a good fight for McGregor.”

However, Carlos Prates confirmed yesterday that the UFC brass has not contacted him about the Conor McGregor fight so far. Although the Brazilian would love to fight the Irishman, for now he has his sights set on Jack Della Maddalena and believes beating ‘JDM’ could earn him a title shot.
Caio Borralho, on the other hand, will return to action in the co-main event of UFC 326 against Reinier de Ridder.
