Caicedo, Gusto and Palmer return: predicted Chelsea XI vs Brentford

Liam Rosenior will take charge of his first Premier League match as Chelsea host Brentford at Stamford Bridge this weekend on matchday 22 of the English top flight on Saturday, January 17 at 3pm local time.

The Blues were beaten in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final by Arsenal in midweek, but will look to find form in the competition at a time that has been punching above its weight of late. Here’s how the hosts will line up.

Remember new hair

Goalkeeper – Robert Sánchez is likely to keep his place in goal despite a sub-par performance against Arsenal last time out.

Defenders – Malo Gusto could replace Josh Acheampong as Reece James may not yet be fully fit to start at right-back, while Marc Cucurella could continue on the left of the back four. Wesley Fofana and Trevoh Chalobah are likely to be favored at the heart of the defense for Saturday’s match.

Caicedo and Palmer return

Midfielders – Moises Caicedo is available again for Chelsea after being suspended in the Carabao Cup match. The Ecuadorian international could partner Enzo Fernandez in midfield. A return is also planned for Cole Palmer, who could be used by the home team as an attacking midfielder on Saturday.

Estevao Willian, meanwhile, may get a start on the right wing, while Pedro Neto is also in the running to start on the left.

Come on – Joao Pedro is expected to take charge of Chelsea again.

Here’s what the Blues could look like on paper.
