Busan Friday: Race-by-Race Preview (December 19)

The race weekend starts on Friday in Busan with 9 races from 11:15 AM to 6:00 PM. Here are the previews:

Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A/KRW 30 million

After winning a trial, (2) POWER TREE has been the beaten favorite in both his starts so far, finishing 2^i.e and 3^rd at 1200M, handy racing both times. He is drawing well, he can be up to speed again, the step up in the trip fits and he can win. (1) RICH was 5^e on debut before improving to 2^i.e when he reached this distance on November 14^e. He was well beaten by a good winner, who in turn convincingly defeated some of today’s rivals and that experience from the trip could stand him in good stead. (9) ONE PLUS ONE led much of the way towards a significantly improved 2^i.e place at this distance on November 23^rd. He has the challenge of the widest gate but can be in the finish again. (8) GLORY WIND and (3) B K. ELDER other place chances.

Busan Race 2: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A/KRW 45 million

Youth girls where five of the twelve are racing for the first time. (3) FAPPI BABE ran 3^rd on debut over this distance on November 21^stcalm down again and continue running. She should have come in for that and has as good a chance as anyone here. (8) FANTASTIC BOSS ran in the same way from midfield for 3^rd debuts on November 7^e. Seo Seung-un will stay on and he will be well supported here again. (1) DAEROUI BIT completes a trio of horses that ran 3^rd at their respective debuts, in her case over this distance on November 28^e if you are on pace everywhere. With a good draw she can take the lead again and she can go a long way. (5) BORYEONG THE QUEEN was a fair 6^e in his debut and can improve, while (7) FANTASTIC SANTA, as one of the first timers, seems to have the best chance of making an immediate impact.

Busan Race 3: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A/KRW 30 million

A very modest girl. (2) YONGBI SHARK was poor last time (as most of these were), but turned out to be a bit lame afterward, so we’ll give him a pass. It only kept him out of work for a few days and continued with his previous form, which earned a 2^i.e and a 5^ecan he get another chance here? (3) CARAT KING was an improved 3^rd more than 1200 million two weeks ago, returning from more than two months of absence. They strike again while the iron is lukewarm at least, and from a good gate he can be in this. (4) DIA (6) RAMO RIDE and (5) COME ON GLORY are not particularly convincing, but in this company they may have the intention of being close.

Busan Race 4: Handicap Class 5 (1400M) / KRW 45 million

(5) TOHAMSAN DRAGON must finish worse than 3^rd and was winner in this class over 1300M in October when he was completely in the lead. He was 3^rd during his first attempt during this trip on November 28^e because he’s been crafty all along, and he can win here. (6) B K. SPIRIT tops the class after her first 1200M win on November 23^rd when she made everything and won with as much as she wanted. She is less heavy, she should be back on pace, and she can easily measure up. (11) CHEONGCHUNEUNJAYU is also in the class after an easy win at 1200M on November 7^e. That victory came after a 3^rd and a 2^i.e From his first two outings and a weight of 3 kg, he can also perform well in this class. There are many more in the frame, with (4) GEUMSEONG and (3) SCYTHAI certainly being well supported as well.

Busan Race 5: Handicap Class 5 (1200M) / KRW 45 million

(6) WIND ROSE returned from a few months off at the end of October and has claimed consecutive second places in the 1300M, showing on pace both times. She will take the lead again here and this time she can go all the way. (2) HAEUNDAE POWER took its only win to date on its debut, but has come close several times since, including a close 2^i.e in this class and distance two start back and then run 4^e behind Wind Rose on November 23^rd. He too will be on pace from a good gate and can be a danger. (7) SIX HERO defied a big draw and ran 3^rd in this class and distance on November 21^st and could be there or there again. (5) RUNNERS HIGH and (3) WANNABE WITH YOU others who may qualify.

Busan Race 6: Handicap Class 5 (1300M) / KRW 45 million

(1) SEOGWI LADY returned from four months’ absence and ran 3^rd over 1200 million in October and then 2^i.e at this distance on November 7^e. Seo Seung-un is climbing up for the first time and today could be her day. (6) GLOBAL HIGH did everything they could to win in this class over 1400M on November 7^e. That was only his second start after a nine-month layoff, so while he’s gained 5 lbs in weight, he could well peak in similar fashion. (7) JEONGMUN FAPPIANO was the winner at start number two on November 23^rdmore than 1400 million, convenient racing everywhere. He is higher in class and is tripping a bit, but has lost 3 kg and can participate again. (4) ROAD TO ACE and (5) ARI DRAGON, both returning after a few months away but looking good in their respective trials, are also on the hunt.

Busan Race 7: Handicap Class 4 (1600M) / KRW 60 million

(1) FLASH PARK defeated several of today’s rivals en route to victory in this class and distance on November 14^ewhere we found ourselves behind the pace before going early and scoring well. He weighs 2kg, but is favored to win again. (11) UNJU CHALLENGE was 3^rd in that race and proved useful throughout. She won in the mile and although she pulls a little wider than ideal, she is a danger with a light weight swing. (8) GLOBAL WEEK returns to trip after recent spins around 1800M. He’s someone who has a mile-plus win on his resume and with Franco making his first run, he deserves consideration. Higher in class (5) BIGBANG CLASS, along with (9) SANGIM BOLT are others in the frame.

Busan Race 8: Handicap Class 3 (1800M) / KRW 75 million

(2) TRIPLE SINHWA has won his last two over a mile and most recently his first attempt at this distance on November 7^e in arranging the midfield and pushing through well. He looks good in class, but has lost 3.5 kg and a hat-trick is not impossible. (12) TAMNA SUPER is also at the top of its class after a win, a 2^i.eand a 3^rd of his last three, over this entire distance. He loses a whopping 5.5kg, the wide draw shouldn’t be a problem, and it’s Franco’s turn. (5) YEOSU SUPER STAR had a bad day at the office last time at a mile and finished outside the top three for the first time. She reaches 1800 million for the first time, Seo Seoung-un stays on and she is worth another chance. (10) DAEHO NARA and (11) SEOBU VISION are the other main opportunities.

Busan Race 9: Handicap Class 3 (1200M) / KRW 75 million

(8) IT’S OK has won its last two, bringing its record of seven total to four. He’s top of his class after scoring over this distance in nice style in October, races nimbly throughout, and at light weight he can measure up here. (6) PACHAMAMA didn’t seem to agree with 1400M when she stepped up her trip last time, but she’s back at a distance where she has three wins and two 2 wins^i.e places after five attempts, and she could be dangerous here. (5) GOLDEN AIR and (10) EUNBIT DAERO come in after run 2^i.e and 3^rd respectively when they played each other in this class and distance on November 14^e and both can be in the finish again. (2) SKY JILJU a place chance.
