Defender, then Burn has signed a one -year contract extension with Newcastle United until June 2027.
Burn’s contract would end on 30 June 2026, but the 33-year-old defender decided to sign a one-year contract, which he recorded a successful season in which he helped Newcastle beating the Carabao Cup to end their domestic 70-year-old Cup Trophy Drought.
Burn also claimed his first senior international performance for England in March in a victory against Albania in Wembley Stadium, London, just a few days after the success of the Magpies Cup.
After confirming his contract extension, Burn explained that he did not want to comment on his future the following season.
“I am very happy to sign a new deal here. I knew that I was going in my last year and I really wanted to hold my future. I said earlier that I would like to finish my career here to get that chance, I am very grateful.
“I still have the feeling that I am getting better and I don’t feel that I have hit the top of the hill. It will be difficult to surpass this season, but hopefully we can do that in the coming years. It is a dream come true for this club and I am glad I can continue to do it.”
Head coach, Eddie Howe added that Burn had earned his contract extension after a strong season.
“Then had an incredible season. He has been an important part of our most memorable moments and was rightly rewarded with senior international football.
“He is a leader who embody the attitude and dedication we want to, and I am glad that he will stay with us for longer.”
The sports director of Newcastle, Paul Mitchell, described Burn’s contract extension as “… a recognition of Dan’s constant interest for the team.
“He makes an exceptional contribution to the club and next to the field, and it is very pleasant to see his efforts reward with a wonderful season for club and country and an extensive contract.”
