Bulletin: September 9, 2025 – Watertown (Mass.) The century affects successive victories for the second time

This afternoon, with a 2-1 win over Belmont (Mass.), The Watertown (Mass.) Won Field Hockey team its 100th consecutive match, an achievement that has now been achieved only four times.

One of those cases was from Watertown, who once won 124 games in a row as part of a National record 184 game undefeated streak between 2009 and 2017.

The only other teams that have won 100 games in a row are Delmar (DEL.) And Oklahoma City Casady School (Okla.). Both have interesting circumstances. A part of Delmar’s Streak came in the midst of Covid-19 protocols, so that all players wore masks while they were on the field and played meaningful games in December. Casady, for his part, turned his profit reak over a period of 14 years, from 1956 to 1969, with the help of lung-out Mulberry sticks, a plastic ball with an elevated edge to look like a cricket ball and, important, no artificial turf.

The Grote Eileen Donahue knows in her 40th season that the 100-Win Mark is secondary in the Raiders’ search for a 23rd state championship. This year’s Watertown side comes from a state championship season in which a victory was won in the state final on a sandwich of quality (Mass.).

Every other team in the Watertown division in the Miaa hopes that they can be the team to hit the raiders of their championship level.

Until that time, however, the line will roll further.
