Bulletin: September 10, 2025 – The MWLL takes a road that has already traveled

Last February, the Lacrosse League of Maybelline Women, a circuit for Lacrosse teams for women founded by the people who run the Prime Minister Lacrosse League, his account with a weekly competition of Sixes in Springfield, VA.

After the MWLL Championship series, the women from the MWLL had to wait for Independence Day to go back to the field, as part of the All-Star weekend of Prime Minister Lacrosse League. That exhibition game was a 10 V-10 match, held on a hybrid “unified” American Lacrosse-Pitch on the floor of CPKC Stadium in Kansas City, the home of Soccer’s Kansas City Current.

Today it was announced that the MWLL would play a regular season of 10 games in 2026, with the same four franchises (Boston Guard, Maryland Charm, California Palms, New York), and would play with schedules based on the schedules of last spring’s championship series.

This means that you probably still see Charlotte North playing for Boston, Alli Mastroianni who is wearing a California shirt, Izzy scans representing New York and Alex Aust-Holman in Maryland Red. But the expansion concept, involving incoming collegial seniors, including Shea Dolce, Madison Taylor, Brooklyn Walker-Welch and Kori Edmonson. This of course assumes that none of these players enters the transfer portal.

However, I think there will be a run on recent collegial players for these teams in the concept, including people such as Ellie Masera, Marie McCool, Sam Apuzzo and Kenzie Kentzie. Given the recent performance of Masera on the World Games, I would project her as the number 1 choice of the expansion.

There are of course several strangers about this summer’s competition. Which ten weeks are used? Will the competition start before the NCAA Final Four? Will it continue deep in September? Will there be MWL/PLL -Crossover -Weekends? Will these matches be double headers, or one match on Friday and one on Saturday? Can there be several games in one weekend, as in the days of athletes unlimited?

Will these two moving circuses play in the same location – say, East Rutherford for the PLL and Stony Brook for the MWLL – in the same weekend?

Will the MWLL also deliberately play games in expansion markets for the game of Ladies Lacrosse? Places such as Starfire Stadium near Seattle, Torero Stadium in San Diego, Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Tex. Or Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce, Colo.

I think those choices, for the 10 competition weeks, will play a huge role in what the fate of the long -term competition will be.
