A doubleheader on Monday Night Football in Week 7 of the 2025 NFL season kicks off with a showdown between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Detroit Lions. With the Bucs 5-1 and the Lions 4-2, this is certainly a potential preview of the NFC Championship.
Let’s dive into my Bucs vs. Lions predictions dive.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Detroit Lions odds
Moneyline: Buccaneers +225 / Lions -275
Distribution: Buccaneers +5.5 (-102) / Lions -5.5 (-120)
Total: Over 53.5 (-105) / Under 53.5 (-115)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Detroit Lions Best Bet No. 1: Lions -5.5 (-120)
Detroit is eager to bounce back from a loss to Kansas City in Week 6. Head coach Dan Campbell’s club also has a great chance to do so. The Lions are 2-0 at Ford Field so far this season and have won those games by a combined margin of 86-31. Their only losses are to KC and Green Bay, two of the toughest places to play in the NFL; their victories have been achieved by a total of 76 points (average 19).
It’s true that Tampa Bay has been impressive so far this season, but a lot of that has to do with Baker Mayfield single-handedly bailing his team out of all kinds of close games, many of them against weak opponents. There may be nothing coincidental about it, but it’s not a recipe for sustained success, especially when the competition in the form of the Lions becomes much tougher. The Bucs already fell to one of the other toughest opponents on their schedule, 31-25 to Philadelphia at home.
Head coach Todd Bowles’ roster is also seriously depleted. On offense, running back Bucky Irving and receiver Chris Godwin are out. WRs Mike Evans and Emeka Egbuka are questionable. OLs Cody Mauch and Luke Goedeke are on injured reserve; OL Luke Haggard is out. On defense, tackle Calijah Kancey is out for the entire regular season and linebacker Lavonte David is questionable.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Detroit Lions best player prop bet: Amon-Ra St. Brown Over 75.5 receiving yards (-114)
St. Brown has exceeded this quota of 75.5 in three of the last five games. It is a piece with performances of 100 and 115 meters. Dating back to the 2024 campaign, ARSB has exceeded that number in five of its last eight games. More success should be in order. The Bucs rank No. 21 in pass defense (231.2 yards per play) and No. 26 in yards per pass attempt allowed (7.6).
Finally, St. Brown absolutely owns Tampa Bay. During a regular-season game last year, he hauled in 11 of 18 targets for 119 yards. The Lions and Bucs faced off twice in 2023 (once in the playoffs), as St. Brown totaled 20 catches on 29 targets for 201 yards and two touchdowns. In two home games so far this season, Detroit has scored 52 and 34 points. In those two, St. Brown passed for 16 receptions, 185 yards and five touchdowns.
