Just past three-quarters in 1:25.4, driver Tyler Smith bagged What A Buckeye and sprinted home in:29 to record the three-length win in 1:55.
WHAT A BUCKEYE REPEAT
Nikki Strike came in second and Jurassic Jewel (Brett Miller) held onto third place from an attacking Gotta Have Rhythm (Luke Hanners).
What A Buckeye is the second son of What The Hill, which is co-owned by Anthony Miller and trainer Herman Hagerman.
The win was his first of the season in 23 starts of the season.
Ohio State fans will be hoping for more success from the pigskin Buckeyes on Saturday afternoon.
In the first division of the co-featured $18,000 condition claiming pace, Mctorious (Trevor Smith) scored a mild upset by beating Bars And Note (Chris Page) and ending Odds On Mad Hatter’s (Luke Hanners) five-race win streak.
Mctorious and Odds On Mad Hatter found themselves in an early battle with Trevor Smith opting to pocket the eventual winner and Bars And Notes in third place before the opening panel in:27.2.
Their positions remained unchanged beyond the half-mile station in :56.
Bars And Notes was flushed out of the three-hole in 1:23.3 before the three-quarter mark, putting pressure on the outside.
Mctorious entered the passing lane and took Bars And Notes and Odds On Mad Hatter in 1:52.
Jeff Smith trains the five-year-old gelding son of McArdle for John Van Horn and the Down The Lane Stables.

Mctorious gave back $16.40 to win for his backers.
