Bryson DeChambeau has broken his silence on his LIV Golf future and revealed he is closing in on a contract extension, just days after Brooks Koepka’s shock departure from the league.DeChambeau joined LIV Golf in 2022 after leaving the PGA Tour, signing a five-year contract reportedly worth more than $100 million. Since then, his profile has only grown. The 32-year-old has become one of LIV’s most marketable stars, delivering box office performances in major championships while building a huge following off the course, including more than 2.5 million subscribers on YouTube.
With DeChambeau’s current contract set to expire after the 2026 season, LIV officials are eager to secure his long-term commitment, especially at a time when the league is navigating uncertainty following Koepka’s departure. However, an agreement has not yet been finalized.
“I don’t know if I’ll get the signature before Riyadh,” DeChambeau said. “There’s a lot of things we have to go through. It’s a very unique scenario. With Brooks leaving, it definitely presents some unique things.”
DeChambeau reiterated his desire to grow team golf globally, but emphasized that any new deal must feel good for all parties.
“I want to do this. I want to grow team golf around the world,” he said. “But it has to be right. Things have to change. Things have to improve.”
He praised LIV CEO Scott O’Neil for the progress made over the past year, adding that the league appears better positioned to move forward with new leadership and branding.
“It’s where I want to be,” DeChambeau added. “But at the end of the day it has to make sense to everyone. Because I can just play golf on YouTube and be fine.”
DeChambeau also admitted that he was surprised by Koepka’s decision to leave LIV, although he had heard rumblings of discontent.
“I didn’t have that on my bingo card for December 23,” he said. “But when one door closes, another opens. I see it as an opportunity. It is what it is.”
LIV Golf begins its fourth full season in February, but Koepka’s departure has added pressure to strengthen rosters across the league. Although Victor Perez and Laurie Canter have been signed, LIV hasn’t had a real big name signing since Jon Rahm joined in late 2023.
Uncertainty about schedules remains widespread. Talor Gooch has taken over as Smash GC captaincy to replace Koepka, while Phil Mickelson is also looking for a new teammate following Andy Ogletree’s demotion. Only a handful of teams have finalized their 2026 lineups.
On the trail, DeChambeau continues to believe his best days lie ahead. A two-time major champion, he came close to matching his tally at the 2024 PGA Championship. He was a consistent presence at Augusta National and finished sixth at the 2024 Masters after playing alongside Rory McIlroy in the final group.
A costly mistake on the 11th hole derailed his Masters bid, but DeChambeau remains confident a green jacket is within reach.
“There’s no doubt I can do it,” he said. “It’s about execution. I’ve been working hard on my wedge game and tightening up the parts of my game that were letting me down.”
He also hinted that fans could see changes in his bag next season, suggesting new equipment innovations could debut in 2025.
“I’m really excited about my play this year,” DeChambeau said. “There will be a lot of new things that you will see – and hopefully they work.”
