Lucy Bronze of England has repeated that Sweden and England both “went further” since their UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 showdown.

England has beaten Sweden 4-0 in Bramall Lane, Sheffield, in the semi-final in Hone Soil at UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 En Route to the title, but the couple will now clash in the quarterfinals of the 2025 edition tomorrow (July 17).

The two, however, met in the qualifying phase for this tournament that ended 1-1 in London, before England took automatic qualification with a scoreless draw in Gothenburg who left the Swedes to qualify through the play-offs.

Thinking about the progress of both teams since the semi-final meeting in 2022, which she considered “a very beautiful memory”, Bronze repeated that both teams had been demanded in different ways and gave the blockbuster.

“The team we played in the euros in Sheffield, both for Sweden and for England, are very different and much further.”

Bronze also spoke about how she is not going to change her playing style for this quarter -final draw, despite the fact that she was confronted with a Swedish team that came to the top of Group C and came from behind to defeat Germany, but wary of Sweden’s threats.

“I like to attack and I also like to defend. I can do any role of me, whether that is from Sarina whether the players around me is. We know the threat that Sweden has and that is a lot in broad positions, but at the same time we are a top team.

“You don’t want to change too much because we want to give the game what we are good at. We are very focused on our strengths and what we can play.”

The last two UEFA-ladies-Euro were won by the host country-Netherlands in 2017 followed by England in 2022 and Bronze is aware of the pressure that Switzerland is waiting to follow despite meeting title facilities, Spain in their quarterfinals on July 18 on July 18 on July 18 on July 18

“I think every player who sets up a shirt in this tournament, probably feels that. I can imagine that the Swiss team has the feeling that they are the home country. Every other team wants to replicate what England did and really stimulates women’s football.”

The 33-year-old right back acknowledged that success comes from winning major tournaments and would like to see countries use success to thrive and develop the sport as England has done when they go deep in large tournaments.

“We know that success comes from that. We know that we are lucky with England that when we are successful, it really explodes. It is what we want throughout Europe and all over the world.”
