Brew Crew Ball Daily Question: Which non-roster invite has the best chance of making the Brewers?

Brew Crew Ball Daily Question: Which non-roster invite has the best chance of making the Brewers?

We’re back with a new daily question on this unusually warm Sunday!

We asked a few weeks ago which prospect you’re most looking forward to this spring, and on Friday Dave covered a few dark horse draft prospects, which got me thinking: Which non-roster invite has the best chance of making the Brewers?

There are a ton of non-roster options this spring – 18 to be precise – but as Dave said on Friday, there are always a few surprises. I won’t cover all 18, and I won’t look at the three Dave mentioned, but I will at least highlight a few.

While there are several prospects and players in that group of 18 that you’ve probably never heard of, there’s one that a lot of people will remember: pitcher Peter Strzelecki. Strzelecki, who was added to a minor league deal with a spring invite earlier this week, pitched for the Crew in 2022 and 2023 before being sent to the Diamondbacks at the trade deadline. He played just once for Arizona that year before making 10 appearances for Cleveland in 2024. He spent 2025 at Triple-A Indianapolis and Durham affiliates of Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay, respectively, although with little success (9.41 ERA over 22 innings). We’ll see if he can turn it around when he returns to the Crew.

Catcher Reese McGuire is another name to keep an eye on, but with the addition of Gary Sánchez this week, his place on the Major League roster has become less clear. New addition Jet Williams is one of those prospects to watch, and he could compete for a depth spot in the infield/outfield while being an outfielder Greg Jones has a narrow path to the majors, as Milwaukee has several names ahead of them on the depth chart.

Who do you think has the best chance to make the team out of spring training?

Weigh in in the comments and join us all month long as we continue these conversations into spring training. Do you have a question you would like to ask in a future BCB Daily Question? Post one in the comments so we can use it later this month.
