Brent crude is trading flat as the US and Iran agree to continue talks

Brent crude oil futures were flat on Friday morning after the US and Iran agreed to continue their talks next week.

As of 9:54 a.m. Friday, May Brent crude futures were at $70.86, up 0.03 percent, and April WTI (West Texas Intermediate) crude oil futures were at $65.31, up 0.15 percent. March crude oil futures traded at ₹5,954 on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) during the first hour of trading on Friday against the previous close of ₹6,053, down 1.64 per cent, and April futures traded at ₹5,969 against the previous close of ₹6,069, down 1.65 per cent.

The third round of talks between the US and Iran on Iran’s nuclear program took place in Geneva on Thursday. However, the talks ended without any breakthrough. Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s foreign minister, and US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were part of these talks.

Iran is one of the leading producers of crude oil in world markets.

March natural gas futures were trading at ₹258.20 on MCX during the first hour of trading on Friday, against the previous close of ₹257.10, up 0.43 per cent.
