A quartet of Breeders’ Cup winners –Splendor , Nysos , Super runner And Full Serrano -all recorded training sessions on January 11 at Santa Anita Park.

Splendora and Nysos both worked for trainer Bob Baffert. Splendora, winner of last year’s Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1), drilled 4 furlongs in :49. It was the third work since the Breeders’ Cup for the 5-year-old daughter of Audible . She is a candidate for the D. Wayne Lukas Stakes (G2) for fillies and mares going 7 furlongs on February 7. The race, formerly the Santa Monica Stakes, was renamed this year in honor of the legendary trainer who died in June at the age of 89.

Nysos, winner of last year’s Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1), was working for the first time since winning the Laffit Pincay Jr. on December 28. (G2) won at Santa Anita. The 5 year old Nyquist The horse was timed going 4 furlongs: 48 1/5. He is referred to the Saudi Cup (G1) on February 22.

Baffert also points to the Saudi Cup Nevada Beach who worked 4 furlongs in :48 1/5 Sunday. He finished second behind Nysos in the Laffit Pincay Jr.

Super Corredora and Full Serrano are both trained by John Sadler. Super Corredora, winner of last year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1), worked 5 furlongs in :59 1/5. It was the fastest of 50 remote works. By means of Rifle runner is Super Corredora scheduled to bow her sophomore in the one-mile Las Virgenes Stakes, which was postponed a week to Feb. 8 following the postponement of the Santa Ynez earlier in the meet.

Full Serrano, the 2024 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) winner, worked 6 furlongs in 1:11 2/5. Most recently, Full Serrano finished fifth in the 2025 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile. He is a candidate to compete in the 1 1/8-mile San Pasqual Stakes (G2) on Jan. 31 at Santa Anita or the Pegasus World Cup (G1) in Gulfstream Park January 24.

This means that since finishing fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, I have worked 5 furlongs in:59 3/5 for trainer Michael McCarthy. Prior to the Breeders’ Cup, the Gun Runner filly was a debut winner at the Los Alamitos Race Course.

So was working for McCarthy The City of Light winner of the Blue Norther for 2-year-old fillies going a mile on grass, Dec. 29 at Santa Anita. The City of light filly returned to the tab with a 4-furlong exercise in :48.4/5.

Grade 1 winner Lovesick Blues, out since finishing sixth in last year’s Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1), worked 4 furlongs in :49 for trainer Librado Barocio. It was his third effort since the Breeders’ Cup.

Returning to the tab for Baffert was a 3-year-old colt Kristofferson . Kristofferson, a debut winner at Del Mar in August, has been out of action since finishing sixth in the American Pharoah Stakes (G1) on Oct. 4 at Santa Anita. In his first work since American Pharoah, Kristofferson promptly fired a bullet when he fired four furlongs in :46 4/5. He is a son of Nyquist.
