Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Democrats have previously shut down the government because they want to give illegal aliens taxpayer-funded health care.
After failing to reopen the government more than a dozen times, Schumer proposed a new plan Friday to end the shutdown.
Senate Democrats are now proposing a one-year extension of the Obamacare – Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies, which are set to expire soon.
Schumer presented his new crazy plan from the Senate on Friday.
“Democrats are ready to clear the way to quickly pass a government funding bill that includes health care affordability,” Schumer said.
Schumer continued, “Leader Thune only needs to add a clean one-year extension of the ACA tax credits to the CR so we can immediately address rising healthcare costs.”
“Democrats have said we must address the health care crisis, but Republicans have repeatedly said they will not negotiate on lowering health care costs until the government reopens,” Schumer said on the Senate floor.
“So let’s find a way to honor both positions,” he said.
“We would like to make a simple proposal that would reopen the government while extending the ACA premium tax credits, and then have the opportunity to start negotiating long-term solutions to health care costs. Let’s do all three,” Schumer added.
