Every day that passes, Jair Bolsonaro seems to get a little more out of prison. Friday, July 18, around 7 o’clock in the morning, the former Brazilian president was awakened by federal police officers who came to perform searches on his house, as well as at the headquarters of his political party, the liberal party, in Brasilia.
This new episode of the judicial saga aimed at the distant leader comes after the announcement by Donald Trump, on July 9, of the establishment of the customs tasks of 50 % against Brazil, due to the treatment “Unjust” of which Mr Bolsonaro would be the victim.
The latter is now also accused of obstructing justice, for the conditioning of the lifting of the American customs obligation for leaving the prosecution that focuses on an attempted coup against the current president, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, during the 2022 elections. In these proceedings he has a sentence to the opening of the prison.
The judge of the Federal Supreme Court Alexandre de Moraes, already responsible for carrying out the trial for an attempt at Coup, retained the accusation of “pressure exerted in the course of legal proceedings”, “obstruction of a criminal organization” and “attack on national sovereignty”.
