The Atlanta Braves system had rained a few games on Sundays, but the games that were played saw a number of recent promotions and continuing to produce draumtees. From Alex Lodise and Cooper McMurray to Isaiah Drake and Patrick Clohisy, the young bats were the story of the day – good together with a 20 Ghiff game by Cedric De Grandpre.

Gwinnett Stripers vs Durham Bulls – PPD, Rain

Gwinnett’s game was rained. The game will be played next month, with a date of 4 September on it.

Columbus Clingstones 6, Montgomery Biscuits 2

Box score

  • Jim Jarvis, 2-5, 2B, 2 RBB, SB, .286 / .286 / .286 / .356 / .357
  • Lizandro Espinoza, SS: 2-4, BB, R, RBI, SB, .200/.429/.200

  • Brett Sears, SP: 5 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 2 K, 3.71 ERA

Brett Sears got the start and handed in a solid outing. Sears went five innings and gave one point on four hits and a few walks with two strikeouts. Although he did not pick up many strikeouts, Sears was efficient and he kept the ball on the ground. Rolddy Munoz went the next two innings, gave up a run and threw one out while he collected eight whiffs. Tyler Laporte and Elison Joseph threw every scoreless innings of relief to finish this game.

The newcomers did the heavy work in this victory. Patrick Clohisy was three to five with a double, two runs, one smashed and a stolen base. Jim Jarvis was two to five, scored a point, hit in two and stealed a basis. Lizandro Espinoza went two to four with a walk, Run, RBI and also a bargain. Greensboro Grasshoppers 6, Rome Emperors 3

Box score

  • Isaiah Drake, CF: 2-5, R, .267/.313/.267
  • Alex Lodise, SS: 1-5, 2B, R, .444/.444/.889
  • Cooper McMurray, 1B: 2-4, 2B, BB, 2 RBI, .333 /.500 /.500
  • Cedric de Grandpre, SP: 5 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 7 K, 3.05 ERA

This game was not as close as the final score indicated, because Rome scored two points in the bottom of the ninth to make it look closer. This was all from the start of Greensboro, because they reached three points in Cedric de Grandpre in the first place. Cedric settled and only allowed one run when he reached five innings, allowing six hits and a walk with the four points.

However, he took out seven batters and took 20 swings and misses, with the kind of stuff that gives you hope that he can become a main class piece. Justin Long and Isaac Gallegos each threw a collection, and both came from the side. Ryan Bourassa and Jacob Gomez each went in an inning and stood a point, although Gomez added two more strikeouts. In total, the Rome pitching staff switched off on the day of 15.

The newcomers have driven the attack in this. Unfeated free agent and former Auburn star Cooper McMurray was at the forefront, two to four with a double walk, and two of the three emperors that were beaten in it. Second round Pick Alex Lodise went one to five, but collected his third extra base with a double. The recently promoted Isaiah Drake went two to five and scored a point, where Luis Sanchez also had a two-hit day. Mason Guerra ran a few walks and Mac Guscette hit a single and ran in the loss. Ambioris Tavarez became hitless in VIEVERS in bats with a few strikeouts.
