Discover Borscht Collective, a brand initiative changes retired kitchen equipment into nutritious meals for Ukrainian soldiers. Support this essential cause.
Most Ukrainian military units are still dependent on outdated field kitchens from the Soviet era. These machines, which were built decades ago, can only produce simple and often tasteless meals. The Borcht collective was born to change that.
The idea came from Oleksii Vykhrenko, known as his callign “Yogurt”, main chef of a unit in the 47th brigade. With creativity and determination, his team has reused retired restaurant equipment in a fully working kitchen. The result proved that soldiers could enjoy meals that are tasteful, nutritious and uplifting.
What started when a single improvised kitchen has become a movement with the aim of reaching the entire Ukrainian army. The model is simple: a truck or container, some second -hand restaurant equipment and a few days of work. In exchange, soldiers get access to the right meals that restore both energy and morality.
Surf with goal
To extend to European markets and to protect resources, the project needed a clear identity. That is where Community 0, a voluntary organization that unites the creative community to support the army, came in. Together with the Agency 9.8, They developed a brand system that included naming, identity and a website.
The chosen name, Borcht Collective, reflects the spirit of the initiative. Just as Borscht combines many ingredients in one dish, this project brings people from different fields together to serve a common goal. The visual language revolves around a Borscht stain, a simple circular sign that symbolizes shared efforts and care. Flexible through design, the identity works on everything, from websites and communication to patches and packaging.
Why it matters
Borcht is more than eating. It is a cultural emblem of hospitality and unity, which shows how many small parts together can create something bigger. By scaling this initiative, more mobile kitchens will reach the front, ensuring that soldiers with dignity and meals receive both body and mind. This project is not just about nutrition. The point is to stimulate morally and to remind soldiers for what they are being cared for.
Become a member of the collective
The Borcht collective shows how a simple cultural symbol can evolve into an international project with real impact. But to grow, it needs visibility and support.
Share this story. Spread the word. Help more kitchens to reach the front lines, so that every soldier can have access to food made with care. Because nobody fights for their country, have to settle for survival rations. They deserve a meal that restores strength and mind.
