Keith Woods of Boston was charged with carrying a firearm without a permit, possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card and resisting arrest.
Officers arrested Woods after he approached a vehicle that they said turned without a signal in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Alaska Street around 10:49 p.m. Initially, police spoke to the vehicle’s two occupants from their patrol car, but when officers exited their cruiser, the occupants reportedly ran from the scene.
One suspect was promptly arrested and later released, but Woods crouched behind a vehicle and threw something underneath it, police said. After more officers arrived on the scene, police were able to handcuff Woods.
Underneath the vehicle, they found a Ruger LCP 380, which they believe Woods placed there. The gun had one shell casing in the chamber and six bullets in the magazine.
Woods was arrested and will be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
